Madison has been part of the Niagara Health team for six years. Something she loves about her job is hearing from patients and parents who are grateful for the care she provided. Madison hopes that the community will once again come together in support of our local hospitals this holiday season and is grateful for donors who support Niagara Health Foundation.
For Niagara resident Dawn, a family vacation in Jamaica became the beginning of a journey she never could have imagined. The lump she found turned out to be a cyst. But the testing also revealed a second lump in another part of her breast. The second lump was stage three breast cancer. The support Dawn received from the WFCC, along with local cancer charity Wellspring Niagara, helped carry her through some of the darkest months of her life. Today, Dawn is eight years cancer-free. The experience changed her forever.
Niagara Health Foundation donor Brian Walker has supported our local hospitals for over 30 years. Supporting his local community is something that has been instilled in Brian since he was a little boy. Inspired by the care Brian received at Walker Family Cancer Centre, he decided to increase his support of the Niagara Health Foundation. "I am glad that I can give back to the Walker Family Cancer Centre with my donations. They made an incredible difference in my life."
Summer was supposed to be fun for 9-year-old Michael. But early in his summer break, Michael complained about a stomachache. Michael’s pediatrician made a call and referred him to the Children’s Health Unit. As soon as they got to the unit, their family was amazed by the kindness of the team that looked after Michael. ”After about a day, he was doing so much better,” Viktorija beams.
Tickets are now on sale for Niagara’s Light of Day concert on November 7th at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines. It is a night of incredible music and one that makes a difference in the lives of people living with cancer and Parkinson’s disease in our region.
