    Niagara Health Foundation donor Bob Czerlau clearly remembers what first inspired him to give back to his local hospital. It was while he was sitting with his brother, who had just suffered a stroke. It gave Bob a deep appreciation for our healthcare system – a system he himself would have to rely on several years later.

    Over 600 newborn babies are cared for in Niagara Health’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) each year, and one of those tiny patients was Daniel. Amidst medical terms, tubes, and fears, Leanne found comfort in the support she received from the nurses.

While it was a scary and difficult time for their family, Leanne was grateful for the amazing care he received at Niagara Health. “I don’t think I’ll ever forget the care they have given to us. They went beyond their basic duties, and it has made us feel more human.”
