Thanks to the generosity of Niagara Health Foundation donors, we are excited to share that a new Ultrasound Machine has been purchased for Niagara Health’s Emergency Department.

Niagara Health Foundation raised over $60,000 dollars to purchase this piece of equipment. It helps provide clear and reliable images during life-saving procedures and in central line insertions.

“We are so grateful to Niagara Health Foundation donors for making this purchase possible,” says Shauna Speck, Clinical Manager at the Emergency Department. “These machines provide standardization between the Emergency Departments and ICUs, which allows physicians who work across our different hospitals and

programs to easily transition between departments.”

The new device is also more compact and accessible for clinicians. It is ergonomically friendly for staff and can fit in smaller spaces to prevent unnecessary movement of patients.

“The image quality on the new system is a big improvement from our old models and it has a better battery life,” says Dr. Chan, Emergency Medicine. “We have more accurate and timely results, which in a fast pace and busy environment like the Emergency Department can save lives.”

Shauna expressed how important donors are to our local hospitals and staff.

“This new equipment is making a difference for both patients and staff. Every donation counts; this new equipment is critical to our local hospitals.” Her message to Niagara Health Foundation donors is one of sincere gratitude. “Thank you so much for all you do to help patients and healthcare workers in our community.”
