2024 Outstanding Philanthropist Award
We are thrilled to announce that Tony Lucciola, a prostate cancer survivor and devoted community leader, will receive the prestigious Outstanding Philanthropist Award by the Golden Horseshoe Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). This award, recognizing Tony’s exceptional dedication to philanthropy and community engagement, will be presented to him on National Philanthropy Day, November 15, at Liuna Station in Hamilton.
Inspired by his own cancer journey, Tony founded the annual Fight Prostate Cancer Golf Invitational (FPC), and now his tireless work has earned him this significant recognition. The AFP Golden Horseshoe Chapter established this award to honour individuals or families who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to their community through their philanthropic efforts. Winners of this award are recognized not only for their contributions but also for their ability to motivate others to take on leadership roles in philanthropy.
Tony’s success with the FPC Invitational is a testament to the power of community and family support. Over the past five years, the tournament has raised over $80,000 for the Prostate Clinic at the Walker Family Cancer Centre (WFCC). But Tony hasn’t done it alone. His dedicated family has played a crucial role in organizing the event and developing creative fundraising initiatives, such as the FPC bracelets and a year-round donation website. Their combined efforts have not only provided essential support to the WFCC but have also set an inspiring example of what can be achieved through passion, perseverance, and teamwork.
As Tony prepares to receive this well-deserved award, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to him and his family for their unwavering dedication to making a difference. Tony’s recognition as the Outstanding Philanthropist is a testament to the family’s remarkable impact and will undoubtedly inspire many others to follow in their footsteps.
