Port Colborne Auxiliary’s gifts of comfort bring joy

December 05, 2014

‘Comfort and Joy’ … these words take on a deeper meaning for the Port Colborne Auxiliary … a group of 29 dedicated volunteers who derive joy from helping patients of the Port Colborne Site in any way they can.

This holiday season, they are helping to provide comfort to chronic patients – literally – by purchasing a modern electric bed and a shower chair to aid in their care. Port Colborne Site Executive Lead Patty Welychka (3rd from L) described how these items would offer patients more dignity and ease-of-movement while she thanked Auxiliary members on behalf of the hospital and staff. In addition, the Auxiliary funded a new vital signs monitor that will help patients being seen in Urgent Care.

OneFoundation Director Carmela Rulli (2nd from L) gratefully accepted the gift and thanked the Auxiliary volunteers for their tireless work to benefit the Port Colborne community. Port Colborne Auxiliary representatives pictured L to R are: Jo Clemits, Co-Presidents Nancy Horpenuk and Sharon Leavere, Janette Toscher and Ethel Birrell.
