Joe & Anita Robertson invest in brainpower at NHS

June 30, 2015

It was Benjamin Franklin who said ‘An investment in knowledge pays the best interest’.  Joe and Anita Robertson subscribe to Franklin’s thinking, believing that an investment in human resources enriches not just the individual, but their workplace, their community, and in the case of hospital workers – patient care.

In this vein, Joe and Anita Robertson decided they would direct half of their generous $100,000 gift to the hospital for a bursary program to support NHS staff taking part in continuing education at Brock University.  Learners – clinical and non-clinical staff alike – can be awarded up to $500 per course if they meet the criteria and 11 successful candidates did just that.

Pictured above are the Robertson’s with seven of the recipients who had an opportunity to meet and thank them in person at a May luncheon celebrating the first group of award winners.

In recognition of the couple’s generosity, four classrooms in the Academic Education area of the new St. Catharines hospital are named for Joe and Anita Robertson.
