GNGH Auxiliary – supporting patient care and then some!

December 10, 2014

Thank you GNGH Auxiliary Volunteers for your tireless work to benefit the GNG Site and all of Niagara!

Christmas came early for the Jeff Morgan Emergency Department in Niagara Falls as GNGH Auxilians came bearing gifts at a recognition luncheon in their honour. The holiday celebration marked the wrap-up of the Auxiliary’s $500,000 pledge to the It’s Our Time Campaign which was completed ahead of schedule in just four years. As an added bonus, the Auxiliary delivered a surprise extra $20,000 for the purchase of a Hypothermic Blanket…quite a stocking stuffer!

Kelly Sylvester and Rosemary Frketich representing the Emergency Department thanked the volunteers, explaining how valuable this added purchase would be in treating emergency patients. The Hypothermic Blanket has the ability to raise or lower body temperature very quickly and can greatly improve outcomes for serious conditions such as cardiac arrest.

Accolades and thanks were also offered by NHS President and CEO Dr. Suzanne Johnston and OneFoundation representatives Roland Giguere and Joe Maggiolo. Joe Maggiolo expressed gratitude – not only for the nearly $3 million raised by GNG Auxilians over the years – but also for the many kind and caring gestures that make patient stays nicer.
