A Tribute to Edd Masters

July 27, 2016

Our thoughts are with the family of Edd Masters, who passed away last week.

Edd began his 50 plus years of support of health care in Niagara when the Greater Niagara General Hospital blueprints were drawn. In the 1950’s volunteers raised a million dollars to build the hospital on a city-donated site on Portage Road and in 1958 Edd was at the opening ceremony. In 1967, Edd was elected to the Greater Niagara General Hospital Board and later served as Chairman and then President.

In 1974, Edd became a founding member of the Greater Niagara General Hospital Foundation, who he served until his retirement in 2007. Edd was involved in every campaign and his years of volunteer work were marked with thousands of hours and dollars.

We are beyond thankful to Edd and his family for their years of devoted support and for fostering the development of a Hospital Foundation that later helped create OneFoundation for Niagara Health System.
