Event Overview

The Niagara Health Foundation’s 2026 Kids Ultimate Challenge, held on June 6th at Firemen’s Park, was a high-energy, sun-filled day that welcomed more than 930 participants, along with their families and friends.

Niagara’s youngest community members came together to climb mountains of hay, swing high over mud pits, and dodge slime in the depths of the forest. This event was about more than racing through the course or seeing who could get the dirtiest; it was an incredible showcase of the power of teamwork and a deep commitment to Niagara Health’s Children’s Health Unit.

The festivities began at 10:00 am, with Desjardins and Fit Collective leading the challengers at the starting line through stretches, high knees, and warm-up exercises. With the blast of a horn, the challengers were off, their energy echoing throughout the park. Racing through the foam arch and across the finish line, they were welcomed by the Niagara Falls Fire Department and proudly received their well-earned medals. While this year’s event did not sell out, participants rose to the occasion, raising an incredible $78, 625 – exceeding the initial goal by more than $13,000.

A highlight of the day was the Sobeys Snack Station, where kids refueled before and after the race with a variety of healthy snacks, delicious treats, and plenty of juice and water. The nearby Fun Zone added even more excitement, featuring interactive activities including face painting and a teddy bear clinic, where children could bring their favourite stuffed friend for a playful check-up. Donations for teddy bears were also collected, raising an additional $1,800 for Niagara Health’s Children’s Health Unit.

The 14th annual Kids Ultimate Challenge raised over $173,000 making it a record-breaking year. These funds will empower the Children’s Health Unit to purchase 25 new bassinets for Women and Babies, providing nurses, mothers, and infants with enhanced comfort, safety, and care.

The Niagara Health Foundation is incredibly grateful for the ongoing support of its community. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, and the dedication of our staff and volunteers, this event was made possible and will continue to make a meaningful, lasting impact in the lives of children and families across Niagara.
