The 2024 Big Move Cancer Ride at White Meadows was a wonderful success, raising an impressive $420,000+ for the Walker Family Cancer Centre. Over the past 16 years, this event has collectively raised over $7 million for a cause that impacts so many.

This year, 461 participants came together to ride the 14K, 25K, 50K, or 75K routes. The day began with a cool morning but soon turned into a sunny, breezy afternoon that created ideal riding conditions. A highlight of the day was honouring 11 dedicated Platinum Peddlers, each recognized for raising over $10,000 through their years of involvement, a major accomplishment. In closing off the event, attendees enjoyed a BBQ lunch and listened to rock hits from the band, Rock of 80’s, in celebration of their dedication to the event and the cause.

The success of the event is largely thanks to the more than 175 volunteers who generously gave their time and effort to ensure everything ran smoothly. Riders consistently noted how the volunteers’ support and enthusiasm enhanced their experience, adding to the event’s positive atmosphere.

The Big Move Cancer Ride beautifully illustrates the strength of community spirit. Riders, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and Foundation staff all come together to support this important cause. The funds raised continue to improve cancer care in Niagara, keeping it local by supporting the purchase of essential medical equipment for the Walker Family Cancer Centre.
