Springtime in Paris Gala sweeps guests away to the ‘City of Lights’

March 10, 2016

OneFoundation for Niagara Health System welcomed 300 guests on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Springtime in Paris Gala, an awe-inspiring Parisian themed event supporting the Niagara Health System Surgical Program.

With the iconic ‘City of Lights’ as the muse, guests were swept away overseas for the evening as the Sheraton on the Falls hotel was transformed into the charming streets of Paris – romantic scenery, fresh blooms, French music, live art and a 12 foot Eiffel Tower to top it off.

Emcee Mark Cressman from Post Media - Niagara Falls Review, St. Catharines Standard and Welland Tribune - kicked off the night with a personal story about the recent birth of his second child, acknowledging how important quality healthcare is in Niagara.

OneFoundation Board Chair, Joe Maggiolo, echoed this sentiment. “The health of pretty much every Niagara resident is tied in some way to our hospitals, and it’s clear to see that, with the help of our friends and supporters, we are making a real difference,” said Maggiolo. “While the NHS is charging ahead in a positive direction, our job at OneFoundation is to make sure the needed funds are there to support them. Thanks to our generous guests and sponsors, we are raising funds for essential equipment that will help thousands of Niagara patients.”

Over $40,000 was raised at the event in support of the NHS Surgical Program, which provides life-saving, close-to-home care for more than 24,000 patients across Niagara each year.

To provide insight into the program, a video played for guests highlighting how surgical care at NHS has evolved over time, key features and the vital role that the community plays in supporting continued advancement.

NHS President, Dr. Suzanne Johnston, also thanked hospital supporters at the event. “On behalf of the Niagara Health team, thank you, or ‘merci beaucoup’, for your incredible support of our Surgical Program,” said Johnston. “The innovative care happening in our program is a reflection of what’s occurring across our organization. It’s an honour to be part of such a remarkable and compassionate team who are focused on caring for patients and their loved ones.”

The Foundation would like to thank Louvre Sponsors Fallsview Casino Resort and Investor’s Group; Arc de Triomphe Sponsors Horizon Utilities, Plenary Group, Post Media (Niagara Falls Review, St. Catharines Standard, Welland Tribune) and Precise Parklink; Notre Dame Cathedral Sponsors Borden Ladner Gervais, Durward Jones Barkwell and Willson International; and all other sponsors and guests who helped make the event a success.
