Mo’ Moustaches. Mo’ Awareness.
Niagara Health Foundation’s Moustache Mania supports local prostate cancer care

St.Catharines, November 11, 2019
It’s time to put down your razors, scissors or clippers and grow out your facial hair for prostate cancer care in Niagara. Niagara Health Foundation’s Moustache Mania is back!
Moustache Mania is a month-long campaign that encourages Niagara residents to “grow a mo’ to raise awareness and funds for Niagara Health’s Prostate Diagnostic Assessment Program.

“Participating in Moustache Mania is a simple and fun way for residents to support cancer care in Niagara, said Roger Ali, President & CEO, Niagara Health Foundation. I invite you to grow a mo’ and raise some cash for Niagara Health’s Prostate Diagnostic Assessment Clinic.”

Since 2014, Moustache Mania has raised over $65,000 towards the program. Dr. Ian Brown, Lead of the Prostate Cancer Diagnostic Program at Niagara Health, will be leading the charge in the mo-growing challenge to help bring attention to this cause.

“We are excited to kick-off Moustache Mania for another year,” said Dr. Ian Brown. All donations will support the purchase of an MRI guided Fusion Biopsy that will help doctors diagnose patients for prostate cancer. This will be another exciting addition to Niagara Health’s Prostate Diagnostic Assessment Program.”

The program, which operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in the Walker Family Cancer Centre, is the first of its kind in Niagara and is designed to improve the quality and coordination of care, decrease wait times for diagnosis and optimize the patient experience for men with suspected prostate cancer. In its first year, 694 patients visited the clinic and 227 were diagnosed with prostate cancer.
